Bedroom Decorating Tips That
You Won't Lose Sleep Over
Everyone
loves a warm and inviting bedroom, a sanctuary away from the
rest of the world. One thing all bedrooms need is adequate
storage. If you are thinking of decorating your
bedroom then make sure that you have sufficient drawer,
cupboard and shelf space to accommodate all of your
possessions.
Most
bedroom decorating tips tend to be quite generic, i.e. they
might say have one color as your basic scheme then choose
some patterned curtains perhaps and match the rest of your
bedroom accessories to one color within that pattern. What
this does is to draw the room together and make it look more
of a design, something that is meant to fit with the
decorative style rather than something that is there because
you didn’t have anything better.
One of the
best bedroom decorating tips is to decide on the style you
might like before you begin. While this applies to any room
that you are going to decorate it is most important in the
bedroom. This is the room that as a general rule the public
doesn’t see so you want it to be a haven for you and for
your partner if you have one. The same applies when you are
decorating a child’s bedroom, as soon as they are old enough
to state what they like it is a good idea to take it into
consideration before you start.
If you
want to give your bedroom a romantic feel then some curtains
round the bed might be attractive. You don’t need a
four-poster in order to do this as the curtains can be
attached to rods in the ceiling. Try to coordinate your
bedding and your curtains, it makes the room look more of a
piece. If this is to be a feminine room then have lots of
drapes and pretty lamps and cushions. Perhaps you want to
give a bedroom a more masculine feel? Keep things plain but
luxurious, perhaps a leather headboard and darker curtains
and bedclothes. You might want a hardwood floor with rugs
rather than a fitted carpet. Decide whether you want paint
or paper or perhaps paint with a feature wall. Whatever
style you decorate your bedroom in, always try to keep some
sense of coordination. This way the style looks deliberate
rather than thrown together. Sleep experts are agreed that
the bedroom should be an oasis, a place where you can put
aside the cares of the day. This means that the décor should
be restful and conducive to a good night’s sleep.
